We are looking for volunteers who are willing to listen to young people and get to know them on their terms.
Young people need adult role models who have patience and are willing to go the extra mile when things get tough. Many young people will test the boundaries to see if you will stay with them on their journey to adulthood.
What is a Volunteer?
A volunteer is an adult, aged 18 years and above, who will commit time to working with young people at one of the sessions in the Project. The day and number of hours would be your choice. We would ask that this commitment would be for a full session (3 hours) on a weekly or fortnightly basis where possible.
What Will I do at Gigabites?
Volunteers are there to build relationships with young people. This can be done by running the café, helping young people to take part in the activities during the evening and by helping them to use the facilities available to them at the Project. It could also mean, simply being a listening ear!

Our Team
We have a small but dedicated team of volunteers who are involved in working directly with young people. Our volunteers are vital to the smooth running of Gigabites, and help in a number of ways, from cleaning to running the café and being involved in workshops. Some volunteers help on a regular basis and others occasionally.
Youth Volunteers
Our older young people are now returning as volunteers. They can use the hours to include on CV’s for job applications, and towards achievements such as Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
Management Committee
Churches in Action has a Management Committee of volunteers who manage Gigabites Youth Project, including:
Chair Rev Andrew Bookless
Treasurer Mrs Wendy Morgan
Assistant Treasurer Rev Keith Boxall
Secretary Mrs Joyce Wilcox
Christian Values
As a Christian charity, Gigabites is run with a Christian ethos. Anyone working directly with young people should agree with our Christian values and principles. It is not essential for all volunteers to be Christians.
Churches Involved
Anglican, Baptist, Methodist, Roman Catholic, Salvation Army, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Welsh Independent and a local independent fellowship.
Prayer meeting:
The next prayer meeting will be held at 6.30pm on Monday, 15th March, 2010 at Gigabites Youth Project
“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper
you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.
